Chemnitz, April 23, 2026 – staff-eye GmbH has signed a Letter of Intent together with partners from government, industry, research and public transport to support the introduction of autonomous mobility in the Free State of Saxony.

As part of the conference Vision 2030: Autonomous Driving in Public Transport in Saxony, Regina Kraushaar and State Secretary Sebastian Scheel, together with 19 partners, sent a clear signal: SAE Level 4 vehicles are intended to enter regular public transport operations by 2030. Applications in logistics and freight transport are also part of the long-term vision.

Key focus areas include:
- System integration for autonomous vehicles
- ODD-basierte Einsatzkonzepte
- Safety architectures and operational testing
- European homologation and approval of autonomous vehicles
- Integration into public transport and logistics processes
This enables staff-eye GmbH to support not only technological development, but also the transition from pilot projects to scalable real-world applications.

Statement from Alexander Kovalenko
“Autonomous driving is no longer an experiment, but a promise to citizens. As a complement to public transport, it creates access and inclusion. This requires the courage to scale — and the willingness to think and act beyond federal boundaries.”

The involvement of staff-eye GmbH underlines the role of Chemnitz and Saxony as a development hub for autonomous mobility, SAE Level 4 applications, and new operating concepts in public transport.
Why Autonomous Driving in Public Transport Is Crucial
utonomous driving in public transport can help to:
- address driver shortages
- improve connectivity in rural areas
- optimize operating costs in the long term
- create new flexible mobility services
- make transport more sustainable
Particularly for Saxony, autonomous driving in public transport offers the opportunity to connect innovation with practical application.
